Commitment of a Therapy Dog

Arizona is brutal when temps climb to 110 degrees.  But Cora is fashionably dressed in her cooling collar and protective socks on her paws. The picture below is why we make the effort, even in our own discomfort with weather. Therapy dogs bring a "breeze of comfort" to our friends in treatment at Mayo.  Cancer doesn't take a summer vacation.  Being a Caring Canine is a commitment regardless of the weather.

New Horizons!

Cora and I spent our last day volunteering at Mayo in June.  We will miss our friends, but our journey will continue bringing smiles and comfort in Florida.  I've been searching for our "niche" here and we will soon be back working as a therapy dog team.  During the move I completed my Evaluator status with Pet Partners and am now studying for my Instructor license.  Hope to have all that done in about 6 weeks.  That way I can teach people how they can join this special force of animal healers!  More to come soon!

Fun Time Video with Cora!

Just a sample of a fun time at Mayo with Cora !

Remember

Cora and I visited Mayo a day early yesterday but it didn't stop us from remembering that tragic day of 9/11.  Here she "salutes" all our fallen heroes.  Many of our visitors are ex military veterans and returned Cora's salute with a smile on their faces.
